A MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN: Perhaps you aren't ready yet to have to say goodbye. Perhaps you've thought of things you wish you'd said...well, so have I. For one thing, I'd have told you not to worry about me. I'm with the Lord in Heaven now...you know that's where I'd be. I'm sorry that you're feeling sad, for I'm so happy now...I've asked the Lord to ease the hurt and comfort you somehow. It's hard at the beginning, but I know you'll make it through. I hope it helps to know that "Mother Maxine" and I will be here waiting for you... Derrick K. Jones, the youngest son of Moses Jones and the late Maxine Ravenell Jones, was suddenly called home to rest on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. Derrick was born on September 24, 1974 in Jersey City, New Jersey where he grew up and later moved to Pineville, South Carolina. He was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and was a 1993 graduate of Cross High School. Derrick accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a tender age and joined Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. Derrick had a passion for vehicles and enjoyed them in every possible way that he could. Derrick had an overwhelming sense of humor and was quite candid when he felt the necessary need. He loved his family and held them dear and close to his heart. This love was evidenced in the pride, joy and care he provided for his two (2) sons, Derieek and Dereon Jones. Derrick's memory will always be in the hearts of: his precious children, Derieek K. and Dereon Jones; his devoted father and stepmother, Moses and Valerie Jones; his compassionate siblings, Brenda Jones Greene and Anthony Jones; his loving stepsisters, Chidarrell (Kale) Palmer and Ishia (Brian) Gattis; his praying grandmother, Rachel Jones; his caring godmother, Cimeron Bryant; his dependable aunts and uncles, Victoria Benekin, Loretta (Sam) Green, Lucy Snell, Lillie Mae (Joe) Butler, Ruby L. Bryant, Thelma Z. Spann, Ruth Owsley, Willie (Versalle) Jones, Joseph Jones, Frank (Dorothy E.) Ravenell, Mack (Deloris) Ravenell, Jr., Jessie McCray, Alphonso (Jessie M.) Ravenell, and Roger (Dorothy M.) Ravenell; his exciting nieces and nephews, Desmine Greene, Kayla Greene, Derrick Greene, Jr., Alayah M.
