Obituary

"Be not dismayed whate'er betide God will take care of you. Beneath His wings of love abide God will take care of you."

Desiree M.  Glover was born March 15, 1935, in Cordesville, South Carolina to Reverend Clarence Myers and Viola Smith Myers.

Her Christian life began as a young child while attending Tabo United Methodist Church with her parents in South Carolina. She also attended and continued her Christian walk in fellowship with Faith Missionary Baptist Church, New York, New York.

She was educated through the public school system of Berkeley County and graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1953.

It was challenging to find work in the community during the era in which she lived. So after completing high school she moved to Charleston, South Carolina with her aunt Martha who welcomed her with open arms and encouraged her to advance in life.

Desiree married at an early age and was blessed with five sons: Joseph, Jr., Richard Lee, Wendell, and twins Keith and Darryl. (Keith and Wendell predeceased).

Desiree loved her five boys and did the very best she could in raising them. She gave up her job to become a full-time stay-at-home mom to care for her children. She would always have something set aside for each of her boys, and when you visited her, she'd excitedly show what she had bought for them.

Desiree talked to her younger siblings who had migrated to New York. They told her of job opportunities in the big city. Desiree moved to New York City and found employment in the garment industry where she worked and progressed.

She loved her family. Her kind, loving, beautiful, and giving spirit was known to all. She made sure no one went hungry, and you couldn't leave her house without her putting something into your hands.

As time progressed, Desiree became ill and needed special care. Her brother, Francis, affectionately called Johnson, along with his late wife Mildred, brought Desiree into their home and cared for her and later relocated to Orangeburg, South Carolina.

After her health began to decline, she was admitted to the Pruitt Health Facility in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She remained there until God opened his arms and took his daughter with him Tuesday, November 16 th at 12:28 P.M.

Desiree leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Joseph Glover, Richard Lee Glover, and Darryl Glover (Yvette); twelve grandchildren: Devon Glover, Darrell Glover, Jr., Darren Glover, Mark Glover, Dymell Glover, Marshe Glover, Daniel Glover,  Damirror Glover, Demi Glover, Demier Glover, Dyaire Glover, and Kaire Glover; two great-grandchildren, Madison Glover and Adonnis Glover; a devoted brother, Francis Myers, Orangeburg, South Carolina, two loving sisters, Allinda Huger, Fayetteville, North Carolina and Annie Lloyd, New York, New York; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
