Obituary

Dianna Evorn Brown Golphin was born to Walter and Eva Brown on January 27, 1957. She transitioned into eternal life with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Dianna was reared in Brooklyn, New York. After relocating to McClellanville, South Carolina, she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975. In her exemplary collegiate career at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Dianna became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in the Fall of 1976, and being an honor student, she was inducted into the Pi Gamma Mu National Social Science Honor Society in 1978. Dianna graduated from Claflin University in 1979 and earned her Master degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2014.

Dianna's love for education, coupled with her call to ministry through missions, became the perfect vessel through which she exemplified that ministry is a lifestyle. Taking her faith with her to work, Dianna, at the time of her transition, was the Director of Student Development at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. With her social work background, Dianna found a love for helping students find their voice and path in life. She was a former high school advisor where she touched the lives of many young people and their families. Transitioning into higher education, she was able to spread her love through education to many students across Kentucky, Tennessee and Internationally.

Dianna was affiliated with Bethel A.M.E. Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky, but she maintained her roots and membership at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in the South Santee section of McClellanville, South Carolina. She followed in her mother's footsteps, becoming a member of the Women's Missionary Society (WMS). Living out her life of mission service, Dianna became a Life Member of the Women's Missionary Society of the A.M.E. Church. She held multiple positions on the Local, Conference and Episcopal District levels of the A.M.E. Church. At the time of her passing, she was the President of the Kentucky Conference Women's Missionary Society. She was previously the 2 nd Vice President of the 13 th Episcopal District WMS, Young People's Division (YPD) Director of the West Kentucky Conference, and President of the 13 th Episcopal District Ministers' Spouses, Widows and Widowers Organization, Plus P.K.'s (M-SWAWO+PK's). Dianna's love for the Lord and service was exemplified in all she did.

Dianna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her faith in Christ and service through missions.

She was preceded in death by her father Walter Brown and brother Vander Lee Polite.

Dianna is survived by her husband and companion in life for almost 40 years, Presiding Elder Kenneth J. Golphin; her children, Chastity Golphin, Kendra Golphin, Chauncey Golphin and Kenneth James Golphin; granddaughter, Evalynn N. Golphin; children of heart, Marcus Weston, Lasica Allen McEwen, Anessia Nutter and Rachel Munson; her mother Eva Brown (South Santee, SC); her sisters, Anna (Dennis) Sutton, Debbie (Michael) Sutton (Atlanta, GA), and Melody (Joe) Mobley (Charlotte, NC); aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews and numerous other beloved families.
