Doris Vernell Rembert Williams, a daughter of the late Henry Tillman Rembert and Susan Judge Rembert, was born on April 6, 1946 in Russellville, South Carolina. She was the youngest of 14 children.

Doris attended high school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She moved to Brooklyn, New York where she met her husband Robert Williams Jr. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Robin and Robert III. Her husband Robert Jr. preceded Doris in death in 1997.

Doris was a dedicated worker for New York City Department of Transportation until she retired as supervisor after 26 years of service.

Doris met her life partner Clyde Simmons. They were the owners of a social club in Brooklyn, NY. Together they facilitated social events, baseball leagues, and parties for friends and family for over 20 years.

Doris , also known as "Ma", "Mema" and "Dot", departed this life on July 18, 2019 in Randallstown, Maryland.  She will be forever be missed.

Doris is survived by: her daughter, Robin Pediford; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Williams III and Zina Williams; grandchildren, Brittany Williams, Brionna Williams, Robert Williams IV and Chase Pediford; great-grandson, Roman Bryce Oliver; siblings, Carutha Rembert, Jeanette Rembert, Alberta Smith and Alma Rembert; brother-in-law, Victor Williams; life partner, Clyde Simmons; beloved pet, Sadie; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 12:00 Noon, at Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church, 2173 Highway 45, Pineville, SC.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, St. Stephen, SC.
