Mother Dorothy Campbell England was born February 2, 1939, in Charleston County, South Carolina, to William H. Campbell and Louise Campbell. Mother England attended Bonds Wilson High School. She was employed by Evans Rule.

Mother England and her family attended Philadelphia Baptist Church, Ladson, South Carolina where she sang with the choir and performed other church duties.

Dorothy met and married Peter Louis England Jr. This union was blessed with six beautiful children, four sons and two daughters.

After many years of attending Philadelphia Baptist Church, Dorothy joined New Bethel Sounds of Praise, under the leadership of Apostle Allen H. Simmons. She was a dedicated and faithful member and served in many capacities: member of the Inspirational Choir, Sunday School Teacher, Hospitality member, Mother of the Church, Children's Church, Communion, and the Christian Ladies Fellowship (Girlfriends' Club). Mother England was known for her evangelism and her love for people.

Mother England was a caregiver to the children in her neighborhood. Everyone loved her. She will be remembered for her kindness, loving spirit and her unwavering faith in God.

On Saturday, September 30, 2023, at her home, Mother England transitioned into eternal life with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter L. England, Jr.; son, Ivan Lester England; and grandson, Quinton DeJuan Burch.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her children, Curtis Louis England, Gregory Carlton England, Sr. (Roslyn), Sylvia Gail Battle (Kelvin), Barry La'narde England and Coston Marie England-Chisolm (Willie); spiritual daughter, Thomasena Simmons; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Home Going Celebration will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at New Bethel Sounds of Praise, 351 Greyback Road, Summerville, SC. Interment, church cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday, October 6, 2023, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
