IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy B.
Manigault
September 27, 1942 – March 20, 2016
Dorothy Louise Baker Manigault was the daughter of the late Deacon Henry Baker and the late Nancy McConnell Baker. As the third of four children, she was born in St. Simons Island, Georgia on September 27, 1942. On Sunday, March 20, 2016 while resting in her home, she heard her name called. She answered and went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord.
Dorothy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in St. Simons Island, GA. As Dorothy would often put it, after the vision of an angel, she became a born again Christian in 1973.
She graduated from Risley High School in her hometown and continued her education at Claflin College in Orangeburg, SC. Dorothy obtained a bachelor's degree in education and taught for several years in the public school system, to include operating her own accredited kindergarten program.
Dorothy r eally enjoyed life. It was during her years in college that her roommate of three years, Corniel Young, would introduce her brother Francis Manigault to Dorothy. They would later unite in Holy Matrimony on July 25, 1966. To this union four children were born. With education as her background and caring as her specialty, she was the backbone of support to her husband and children. During her husband's 30 years of service in the United States Air Force, the family would enjoy travels to many parts of the country, to include an overseas assignment in Panama. After his retirement, the family relocated to Moncks Corner, SC where she joined Anderson Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her lovely memories: her loving husband of 49 years, Francis Manigault Sr.; four children: Franquelletta (Dr. Weldon) Wallace of Columbia, SC; Quontreece (Douglas) Thompson of Newport News, VA; Francis Manigault Jr. of Goose Creek, SC; and Dorothea Manigault of Moncks Corner, SC; two sisters, Henrietta Loyd of Brunswick, GA and Rosemary (William) Ramble of Atlanta, GA; two brothers-in-law, Louis (Hester) Manigault and Marshall Manigault; one sister-in-law, Corneil (Horris) Young; eleven grandchildren: LaShae, Nandi, Weldon Jr., Theron, Douglas Jr., Deniece, De'Nia, Jerrick, Dorothy "Nesha", Dedrick, Derrell; one great grandson Ezekiel; one Goddaughter, Rhondia Grant; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and the Anderson Church Family.
