Dorothy Ann President, a daughter of the late Henry Poinsette and Irene Palmer Poinsette, was born July 1, 1936 in Pinopolis, South Carolina. She departed this earth peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2014 in Moncks Corner, SC. Dorothy attended the public schools in Berkeley County, SC. She was employed with the Berkeley County School District and retired from Berkeley Middle School, Moncks Corner, SC. Dorothy was a member of Grace Reformed Episcopal Church where she served on the Usher Board and sang in the choir. Dorothy was united in holy wedlock to Joseph President. This union was blessed with six children. Two daughters, Joann Barnhart and Earma Copeland, preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by a son-in-law, Austine Dillon III; and her siblings. "Dot", as she was affectionately called, was a strong-willed woman who had a great sense of humor, especially with her stubbornness. She was able to light up any room she entered with her unique personality. She was an excellent cook and opened her home to share with others. She also enjoyed planting flowers and sewing. Dot has touched many lives and will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of over 60 years, Joseph "Joe" President of Moncks Corner, SC; three daughters, Carolyn (Jerome) Williams of Philadelphia, PA, Patricia Ann President (Rev. Thomas) Horry and Linda Dillon of Moncks Corner, SC; one son, David Lee (Dora Lee) Reid of Philadelphia, PA; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Greg Barnhart and Melvin Copeland, Jr.; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; one aunt, Albertha Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
