IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dotsey M.
Robinson
June 10, 1943 – September 10, 2018
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26
Dotsey M. Robinson was born on June 11, 1943 to Chance and Orene Prioleau in Russellville, SC. Growing up, she was given an abundance of love and was taught hard work and dedication that would last a lifetime. She departed this life on September 10, 2018 .
She attended Russellville High School located within the Berkeley County School District. Upon her successful completion in 1961, she moved to New York City for a better opportunity.
After moving to New York City, she met and married Sterling Robinson and together they had three wonderful boys, Everett Robinson, Deverett Robinson and Martin Robinson .
Dotsey began her 34 year employment with the American Foundation for the Blind in New York City, a non-profit organization whose mission was to create a world of no limits for people who are blind or visually impaired. During this time she made a huge impact on her colleagues, who quickly went from co-workers to friends, and some friends who became a part of the family.
Dotsey was a devoted mother and wife who loved her family to the core and made many sacrifices to ensure that her children had what was necessary. Though many obstacles would be placed before her, she took each one head on, and became an even stronger individual, for not only herself but those around her. Her idea of family extended beyond any known definition because she opened her doors to everyone with the warmest embrace.
To know Dotsey was to love her. She gave so much of herself and expected nothing in return. Whatever the occasion she was the one person you could count on. Rest assured she had everything under control. In fact if you ever needed a riding partner, she would always say "Okay, I'll ride".
Dotsey enjoyed the city that never sleeps, but even after over 47 years she always wished to return home, so in 2008 she did just that and re-established her relationship with Christ in the church she was baptized in so many years ago.
Dotsey accepted Christ as her personal Savior and therefore when her time was near she was ready to meet the Lord without any hesitation. She was a member of Day Dawn Baptist Church in Pineville, SC and she will be missed by all.
Dotsey leaves to cherish her memory: Sterling Robinson of Kathleen, GA; one son Martin D. Robinson of Brooklyn, NY, three sisters, Omega Prioleau and Althea Prioleau both of St. Stephen, SC and Cynthia P. (James) Blanding of Bonneau, SC; seven grandchildren, Messiah Sosa, Yasmine Davis, Marquez Robinson, Anniah Hardison, Deztiny Robinson, Jayda Robinson and Justin Robinson; two great-grandchildren, Brielle Sosa and Karter Archer; stepdaughter, Angela Coleman; godson, Raymond Prioleau, Jr.; goddaughter, Olympia Tuten; close friend, Sherry Davis; great-grand pup/companion Bentley Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dotsey was preceded in death by two sons, Deverett and Everett Robinson and her mother and father Chance and Orene Prioleau.
