Ecclesiastes 3:1-2-4 Retired Seaman Earl Lewis Grant, 64, of Moncks Corner, SC, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He was born on December 20, 1946 to Corine E. Grant in Savannah, GA. Earl was educated in the public schools of Savannah and was a 1965 graduate of Sophonia M. Tompkins High School. Immediately after graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served his four years on the USS Coral Sea; he was a Vietnam Conflict Area Veteran. Upon completion of the Armed Forces, he joined the Merchant Marines and spent 22 years as a Diesel Mechanic, mainly with Lykes Steamship Lines, Inc. He retired in 2004. Earl was married to Gwendolyn Gillians Grant who predeceased him in 2009. He gave generously to his favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Feed the Children where he adopted a son. Earl will forever be remembered and missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Earl leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, Lisa Nikki Young of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister, Janet C. Grant of Savannah, GA; two nephews, Patrice L. Grant of Moreno Valley, CA and Marcus (also godson) Pugh of Columbia, SC; one sister-in-law, Terry G. (Cleveland) Pugh of Columbia, SC; one brother-in-law, Freddie (Patricia) Gillians of Goose Creek, SC; a devoted cousin, Nathaniel Johnson of Savannah, GA; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
