Edward Young, Sr. was born on May 2, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Julia Fields. On December 14, 2024, he peacefully passed away in North Charleston, South Carolina, surrounded by the love of his family.

Edward attended school in the Berkeley County School System and worked as a welder, where he took pride in doing his best every day.

Edward was married to the late Wilhemina Bryant, and together they built a life filled with love and family. He was also preceded in death by his son, Edward Young Jr.

He was a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church. There, he enjoyed singing with the Male Choir and helping with the church's audio recordings. Edward believed in serving his church and community.

In his free time, Edward enjoyed fishing, cooking, and watching Westerns. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great happiness.

Edward leaves behind many loved ones, including his daughter, Carolyn Hart (Nathaniel Hart); his special friend, Reynold Brown; his grandchildren, Catrea McKnight (Mikel McKnight) and Tatiana Green Young (Borhdyeah Merchant); his brother, Gregory Fields; and many family members, community members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Edward Young, Sr. was a kind and loving man whose memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1837 Old Highway 52, Moncks Corner, SC. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. There will be no viewing after the service.
