Obituary

Eldora Myers Logan Canty, born on February 6, 1947, in St. Stephen, South Carolina, transitioned from this life on August 15, 2024, in New York, her home for many years. Eldora was the beloved daughter of Reverend Frank Myers, Sr. and Queenie Green Myers, who, along with her daughter Jennifer Rolanda Myers Hamilton, grandson Ty'zavier Martin, and siblings Robert Myers, Joe Myers, Willie Myers, and Fannie Mae Myers McNeil, preceded her in death.

Eldora grew up in St. Stephen and graduated from Russellville High School in 1964. Shortly after, she moved to New York, where she spent the remainder of her life. Eldora married Lanfert Langston Fitzgerald Logan, who preceded her in death. She later found love again and married Phillip Canty, with whom she remained until her transition.

Eldora earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and dedicated her career to social work, serving the New York community from 1976 until her retirement in 2018. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her five children to be independent and successful, a testament to her unwavering dedication and love.

A lover of travel and fishing, Eldora had a deep passion for buying new cars and was always proud to boast about her children and grandchildren. Known for her firm yet loving nature, she never hesitated to speak her mind and was famous for her sayings, such as, "End of story, morning glory," which she often used when chastising her children. Eldora had a way of ensuring that everyone felt acknowledged and welcomed, and if you entered her home without greeting everyone, you would be politely asked to "turn around and walk outside and let's do this again."

Her wisdom was imparted through her countless sayings, like "Just because you get a new broom doesn't mean it's gonna sweep clean," and "You can't burn both ends of the candle." Eldora was a devoted member of Greater Refuge Temple, where she served her community faithfully. Her dedication and hard work were recognized with multiple Employee of the Year awards and an Appreciation Award during her career.

Eldora leaves behind her loving husband Phillip Canty and her five children: Tyrone Myers, Jonathan Langston Logan (Sheryl), Keisha Jones, Leonard Jones, and Tanial Logan. She is also survived by her siblings Frank Myers, Sr. (Justine), Melvin Myers (Joyce), Arthur Myers (Rena), all of Baltimore, and Shirley Simmons of Goose Creek, South Carolina, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Jonathan Langston Logan Jr., Malachi Joshua Webb, Dillon Isiah Costello, Leonard Earl Jones, Jr., Jacob Earl Jones, Tianni Amari Jones, Taqiyah Jones, Delana Williams, Xavier Myers, Detona Myers, Matthew Myers, Sydney Myers, Devonte Neil Harris, and Taliyah Mae'Lee Harris. Eldora also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Eldora's life was a testament to love, strength, and resilience. Her firm guidance, love for her family, and her legacy of wisdom will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
