Obituary

Elease Baylor Moore passed away peacefully at Pruitt Health, Moncks Corner, South Carolina on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She fought courageously and never gave up. Elease was the eldest child of Reverend and Mrs. G. L. Baylor, born on March 19, 1930 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Arthur Moore, siblings Geraldine Baylor Major and William "Duby" Baylor.

Elease attended Mather Academy Boarding School and graduated from Steelton High School, Steelton, Pennsylvania. After attending Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina, she returned home and taught several years in Cross, South Carolina. Being the adventurous person, she relocated to New York City and later to Steelton, Pennsylvania. It was there where she studied with the Jehovah's Witnesses and was baptized in July 1967 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Upon her retirement, she returned home to Moncks Corner to enjoy family, and became a devoted member of the Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Moncks Corner. She was a faithful regular auxiliary pioneer. She enjoyed field service, looked excitedly to yearly assemblies and rarely missed weekly meetings until her illness confined her to the nursing home. During this time, she became more resolute in her faith and belief in Jehovah.

Elease was a lovely and compassionate "big sister" and aunt. She lived a long, wonderful and fruitful life. She had a diverse range of interests and a vibrant personality. She was an avid sports fan and would "awe" you with her favorite athlete's statistics. She was always prepared for a debate.

Elease will be deeply missed, but not forgotten by her sisters Thomasena "Tommie" Baylor Staten, Carol Jametta Baylor Greene, Vera Baylor Brown (Winston); sister-in-law Theola White Baylor; special cousin Retha "Shrell" Baylor Rorie; nieces, nephews, cousins; and her Kingdom Hall family and many friends.

The family of Elease Baylor Moore takes this opportunity to thank the brothers and sisters of the Congregation of the Moncks Corner Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses for their frequent visits, establishing an on site weekly meeting at the nursing home, setting up media equipment to view weekly meetings, and writing and reading her answers to questions during Sunday meetings.

We thank the nurses and staff of Pruitt Health for the care, concern and compassion shown and provided to Elease. Thank you, cousin Retha Baylor Rorie, cousin Cynthia Hamilton, friend Dorothy Mitchell, and friend Harriet "Bunnie" Bennett for your unwavering support and patience.

A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024, 2:00 p.m., at Baylor's Haven Rest Cemetery, Airport Road, Moncks Corner, SC. There will be no viewing.
