It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful transitioning of Mr. Elijah McCants, Jr., who departed this life and stepped into Glory on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Cypress Square Assisted Living, Summerville, SC.
He was a beloved figure whose life radiated kindness, strength, and resilience. Elijah dedicated his years to the betterment of those around him, especially through his career as a banker and financial advisor. He leaves an indelible mark on his family, friends, and community. His departure is keenly felt, yet his legacy will remain a source of inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His spirit will continue to live on through his devoted family: his wife, Ruthie S. McCants; son, Ronald McCants; his beloved sister, Carole (Henry B., Jr.) McCants Williams; special niece, Yvette Weiters; special cousin, Dirinda (Frank) Weiters; stepchildren, Shanita Simmons, Eric Simmons and Daniel Simmons; grandchildren; great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and loving friends.
Mr. McCants was a member of the Iota Beta Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., where he formerly served as Basileus.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gethers Funeral Home, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. The Omega Memorial Service will take place at 6:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church, 145 West End Drive, Moncks Corner, SC.
