Elizabeth Evans Gary, a daughter of the late Andrew R. Bland, Sr. and Annie E. Williams Bland, was born on May 30, 1933 in Charleston, South Carolina. She departed this life on March 8, 2012 at Omooo Community Care Center, Summerville, South Carolina. Lizzie, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. She moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and then to New York. While in New York, she was employed by Harlem Hospital, New York City, New York, for many years. Lizzie accepted Christ as her Savior and became a member of Bethlehem Reformed Episcopal Church, Moncks Corner, SC. She later became a member of Moncks Corner Baptist Church, Moncks Corner, SC. She later joined Mt. Carmel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served on the Choir. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Leon Evans who preceded her in death. She later married Exodus Gary who also preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory: a brother, Colonel Andrew R. Bland, Jr. (Kathleen), US Army-Retired of Houston, TX; a sister, Florence Bland Smith Bennett of Charleston, SC; a special cousin, Ruby Williams of Moncks Corner, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
