IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ella Mae
Shine
September 11, 1931 – October 1, 2016
Ella Mae Wilson Shine was born to Martin and Rosalee Wilson on September 11, 1931, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
Ella Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. John Henry Shine on May 17, 1953. This union was blessed with one daughter, Alfreda, and two sons, Gerald and Danny Shine.
Ella Mae joined Graham A.M.E. Church (presently Moncks Corner A.M.E. Church) where she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was a very faithful and dedicated member of the Senior Choir, Women's Missionary Society and the Kitchen Committee and served as a Class Leader and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Soulful Bass of the Community Harmonizers singing quartet group.
Ella Mae was employed in the Berkeley County School District food system before and after graduating from Berkeley High School. She was an excellent cook who fed school children for many years. She was a cook, operator and lunch room manager for 42 years.
Ella Mae was a fun and loving person who was loved by everyone she met. She loved doing word search puzzles, reading her bible, and watching basketball and football games.
Very quietly and peacefully on October 1, 2016, Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom, gently closed the eyes of our dear Mother, Ella Mae Shine, and she entered into her eternal rest.
Today we, her family and friends, pause to pay tribute to her transition and celebrate her final Home Going. We celebrate because we know that a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend is at rest. "Momma", we will truly miss you, but a loving God knows best. We will always remember your smiling face and life lessons.
Those who shared the joy of life with her will always miss and cherish her precious memories are: her loving and devoted children, Alfreda (Criss) Mitchell of Columbia, SC, Gerald (Cheryl) Shine of Moncks Corner, SC and Danny (Everene) Shine of Humble, TX; seven grandchildren: Andre, Candace, Curtis, Daneeta, Justin Ryan "J.R.", Dessarae, Lil Criss II; great-grandchildren; one niece who she raised like her daughter, Sheryl (Frank) Simmons of Johns Island, SC; special sister-in-law, Gertrude Wilson of New York; nephew, Kendal Wilson of New York; three brothers-in-law, Johnny Gray, Josey Gray and Calvin (Lucille) Bryant; special aunt, Beauty Richardson all of Moncks Corner, SC; and cherished nieces, nephews, relatives and very close friends.
Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Sr. and Rosalee Wilson; two brothers, Martin Jr. "Buster" and Robert Lee; one sister, Emily "Peach" Wilson; husband, John Henry Shine; and son-in-law, Pete Wagner.
Again, a human spirit has taken flight at the call of the Heavenly Father to the mansion prepared for her from the foundation of the earth by an all wise, loving and all knowing, just God.
