A Time To Be Born... Mrs. Ellen Washington (YaYa), the daughter of the late Ben and Annie Simmons, was born on July 11, 1903, in Jamestown, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her sisters, brothers and one grandson. A Time To Die... Her beautiful productive life ended Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, North Carolina. Her journey is now completed. A Time For Every Purpose Under The Heaven... She received her education in the Berkeley County School System at Jamestown Colored Grade School. Having been reared in a Christian home where values were instilled and portrayed by loving and devoted parents, at an early age, Ellen joined New Mount Zion A.M.E. Church. Over the years, she was a member of the Choir, Women's Missionary Society, and Stewardess Board. She was also the Mother of the Church. A Time To Be Blessed ... Ellen was united in Holy Matrimony to Louis Washington, Sr. who preceded her in death. To this union four devoted children were born: Harry, Louis, Henry and James. YaYa was a loving, kind, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a loyal and dedicated church member. She will forever be remembered by those who were privileged to have loved and known her. A Time Of Memories...
