Obituary

" A link in the chain is broken, for death has taken our loved one home.  Death has given our beloved the Golden Key that opens the place of Eternity."

Mrs. Emma Jane Brown Johnson, affectionately known as "Momma', was the daughter of the late Sadie Brown and Frank Williams. She was born on December 25, 1928 in Moncks Corner, SC. On Sunday, January 3, 2021, God sent one of His angels to survey His garden of roses at Trident Medical Center. The angels found a beautiful rose and at 6:10 p.m., Emma's rose was cut and taken to heaven to become a part of God's beautiful bouquet.

She was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. After high school, Emma began working for William Heller in Moncks Corner, SC.

Emma was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Luther W. Johnson, Sr., on June 10, 1950 in Moncks Corner, SC.

She joined Grace Reformed Episcopal Church in Moncks Corner, SC at an early age where she served faithfully on various committees until she became ill in 2014.

Emma was well known and loved by all who knew her. She was a lover of fashion and all things dainty. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Emma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Luther W. Johnson, Sr.; her two beautiful daughters, Flora Roberta Johnson and Juanita Powell Brown; one son, Luther W. Johnson, Jr.; and one brother, James Williams of Louisville, KY.

Those left to cherish her precious memories: her three sons, Richard Lee (Almetta) Johnson of Bronx, NY, Ralph Lenard Johnson of Manhattan, NY and Isaiah (Hazel) Johnson of Raleigh, NC; one stepdaughter, Gwen Phillip of Moncks Corner, SC; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Johnson of Moncks Corner, SC; two sisters, Sarah Lee Copeland and Irene Simmons both of Moncks Corner, SC; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

We all love her, but God loved her BEST!
