Obituary

Mrs. Emma Mae Williams, age 91, departed this earthly life and transitioned into eternal life with the Lord on August 9, 2022, at her home in the presence of her husband in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

She was born on February 27, 1931, in Rhode Island, and was the daughter of Robert and Martha Johnson.

Mrs. Williams accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 27.

After graduating from Rogers High School in Newport, Rhode Island, Mrs. Williams continued her education at a secretary school in Newport, Rhode Island, and received her certification.

She was employed at Newport Trancom for many years until her illness.

During her spare time, you could find Mrs. Williams sewing, knitting, or crocheting. She was an excellent seamstress and made many knitted apparels for her grandchildren, as well as gowns and dresses. Her skills were not limited to making sure that others looked their best; she was a walking advertisement for her talent. She dressed and accessorized well!!! Mrs. Williams also enjoyed constructing large puzzles. Her "can do" attitude was evident in every aspect of her life.

On August 28, 1981, she married the love of her life, Mr. Charles G. Williams.

Although Mrs. Williams relocated through the years, she served in various church and community organizations where she lived. She was a member of Mt. Olive and Community Baptist in Newport, Rhode Island, and Onley Street Baptist in Providence, Rhode Island. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Moncks Corner Baptist Church in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Her Prince Hall Masonic Affiliations include: Past Matron of Queen Sheba Chapter #1, Grand Assistant Secretary of P.H. Grand Chapter (Rhode Island), and Past Lady Ruler of Golden Circle (Rhode Island). Mrs. Williams was a member of a bowling team in Rhode Island and became an active member of the Moncks Corner Senior Center shortly after moving to Moncks Corner.

Mrs. Williams was predeceased by her parents; all of her siblings, except one; and one daughter, Mrs. Regina Goodson.

Her memories will be cherished by her devoted and loving husband, Mr. Charles G. Williams (Moncks Corner, South Carolina); two children, Mr. George Lastra, Jr. (Fall River, Massachusetts) and Mrs. Donna McCrimon (Orlando, Florida); one sister, Mrs. Gloria Sykes (Newport, Rhode Island); one sister-in-law, Mrs. Marjorie B.
