IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emmerline Witherspoon
Limehouse
December 22, 1930 – October 14, 2016
Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his saints.
Psalm 116:15
Emmerline Witherspoon Limehouse, a daughter of the late Charles Witherspoon and Julia Doughty Witherspoon, was born December 22, 1930 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the home of her grandchildren in Moncks Corner, SC.
"Perkin", as she was known to many, received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. She was employed as a machine operator at William Heller Manufacturing Company until retirement.
Emmerline was united in Holy Matrimony to Arthur Lee Limehouse. This union was blessed with six children. Her husband and a daughter, Delnora Limehouse Taylor, preceded her in death.
Emmerline accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Greater Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. She was a member of the Usher Board and the Women's Missionary Society. She was a worshipper and loved attending various church services in the community.
Emmerline's hobbies included cooking, baking, singing and fishing. She was a soft-spoken and caring woman who enjoyed sharing with others. She never met a stranger. Many lives have been touched by "Perkin", and she will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Vernethia "Vern" Limehouse; three sons, Leonard "Butch" Limehouse, Calvin (Miriam) Limehouse, and Jerome "Romey" (Cynthia) Limehouse; one stepdaughter, Vera Reaves; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Rev. Lucille (Flenoy) Withers, Rufus (Shirley) Witherspoon, Clarence (Shirley) Witherspoon, Sr., Harold Witherspoon, Sr. and Blanche (James) Cordes; brother-in-law, Joe (Geraldine) Limehouse; sisters-in-law, Caldonia Limehouse and Virginia Limehouse; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, "The Prayer Partners", and friends.
Emmerline was preceded in death by four siblings, Cleveland Witherspoon, Sr., Alberta Segar, Ella Mae Barnes and Janie Eunice Osborne.
