Erma Jean Dingle Shaw, the daughter of the late Mr. William Dingle and the late Mrs. Mary McKelvey Dingle, was born on April 8, 1954 in St. Stephen, South Carolina. On Sunday, April 14, 2013, God, in His infinite wisdom, called Erma home to rest eternally. Erma received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County, South Carolina. She was a 1974 graduate of St. Stephen High School. Erma was reared in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. As a child, she attended Alice Temple with her mother. She later became a member of Refuge Temple Church Of Our Lord Jesus Christ and then Christ Fellowship Church. She demonstrated her faith through her prayers and testimonies. She would often be the first to go up for prayer when an altar call was made by a minister. On January 1, 1995, Erma was united in Holy Matrimony to Curtis Shaw who preceded her in death. Erma was a family-oriented woman who loved her family and friends dearly. She was blessed with a great sense of humor and had the ability to make people smile and laugh. She was also quite outspoken. She touched many lives. She will be remembered for her warm heart and compassion towards others. Those left to cherish her memory: her siblings, Mr. Glennie (Ida) Dingle, Mr. Abraham (Janie) Dingle and Mr. James Dingle all of St. Stephen, SC, Mr. David Dingle of Union, SC, Mrs. Erthaleen (James) Kennie, Mrs. Jessie Mae (Ludie) Johnson, Ms. Jonni Dingle and Mrs. Joyce (William) Dubois all of White Plains, NY; nieces reared as sisters, Ms. Terry A. Dingle of St. Stephen, SC and Ms. Stacey Dingle of White Plains, NY; nephew reared as a brother, Mr. Antonio (Earline) Dingle of Scarborough, NY; adopted brother, Bishop Jeremiah Ravenell of St. Stephen, SC; aunts, Mrs. Celia Robinson, Mrs. Ethel Davis, Ms. Naomi McKelvey, Mrs. Sulie McKelvey all of St. Stephen, SC and Mrs. Willie Mae Sumter of Detroit, MI; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary McIver of Kennieville, NC and Mrs. Mary Cooper of Brooklyn, NY; brother-in-law, Mr. Roosevelt Shaw of Brooklyn, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Erma was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Dingle.
