Essie Mae Williams, the daughter of the late Elouise Jones Campbell, was born January 3, 1924 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She departed this life on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at her residence in Bonneau, SC. Essie Mae gave her life to Christ at a very early age. After relocating to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she became a faithful member of Christ Temple Holiness Church where she served as Vice President of the Missionary Board and the Usher Board. While in Winston-Salem, she held a variety of job positions, including R. J. Reynolds and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Her most enjoyable position was being a Nanny for Julius "Dr. J" Irving. Essie Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to John Williams who preceded her in death. After returning to Bonneau, SC, Essie Mae became a member of Garden of Prayer. She served there faithfully as a Mother of the Church. Some of her hobbies included: gardening, sewing, cooking and fishing. Essie Mae leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Richard Clemmons and Willie Mae Sloan both of Milwaukee, WI, John Williams of the home, and Patricia (Timothy) Payne of Winston-Salem, NC; twenty-three (23) grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by three children, Barbara Gilbert, Sadie Townsend and Bishop Samuel Clemmons.
