Ethel McKelvey Davis, the daughter of the late Abraham McKelvey and Estelle Addison McKelvey, was born on February 6, 1927 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She departed this life on March 21, 2016 at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, SC.
Ethel received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. She was employed as a cafeteria worker with the Berkeley County School District until her retirement.
Ethel was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church where she served as an Usher. She also served with the Union #2 Ushers. She was a member of Home Charity Lodge #2.
Ethel was joined in holy matrimony to Grady Lee Davis. This union was blessed with four wonderful children; two daughters, Rutha Mae Moultrie and Ola Mae Hamm, preceded her in death.
Those who will cherish her memories are: her loving sons, Abraham Davis and Robert Lee Davis of the home; a devoted granddaughter and caregiver, LaTeaka C. Moultrie of Alvin, SC, loving granddaughter, Sheronda D. Hamm-Washington (Lavelle) and loving grandson, Nehemiah S. Hamm (Vernita) of Detroit, MI; seven great-grandchildren: Rynajia Moultrie, Iysis Moultrie, Lavelle Washington, Shamiah Washington, Kenyatta Washington, Diamond Washington and Malik Washington; three sisters, Celia Robinson, Naomi McKelvey both of St. Stephen, SC and Willie Mae Sumter of Detroit, MI; son-in-law, Nehemiah Hamm of Detroit, MI; two sisters-in-law, Sulie McKelvey and Carrie B. Lambright both of St. Stephen, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
