Obituary

Mother Ethel Mae Bengall, affectionately known as "Rainie" and "Wee Wee". Her one and only child affectionately called her "Uh huh". She was the daughter of the late Henry Green and Beulah Green Grant. Mother Bengall was born on December 25, 1925, in Huger, SC. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Rainie received her early education at Charity Church School in Huger, SC. She was a retired domestic worker who was blessed to form lifelong friendships with her employers.

Rainie was devoted to her family, and she worked hard to provide for them. She has one child but reared two grands and a niece. She loved to cook and garden. She also loved watching her daytime television shows such as "The Price is Right" and, in the evenings, she would watch "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy".  Her dinners and cakes were enjoyed by many in the family and community.

Rainie had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She not only loved her family, but she also loved her church family and adopted many of them as her daughters and sons.

Rainie was quiet, but her faith was deep. She always reminded us to "Trust in the Lord at all times". Therefore, that is where our strength comes from during this time of bereavement! Her favorite passage in the bible was the 23rd Psalm.

Rainie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Beulah; siblings, Rebecca, Mary, Margaret, and Henry; and son-in-law, James L. Golden.

Rainie leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Ruthey Mae Golden of Huger, SC; four grands: Stanley Singleton of Beauford, NC; Annette (Ernell) Wright of Moncks Corner, SC, both reared in the home; James (Carolyn) Golden of Houston, TX; Melissia (Marcus) Chamberlain of Charlotte, NC; Sandra Bess (niece, also reared in the home) of Huger, SC; Baby (Mary) and all "Sista" children; her sister, Rena Mae Green of Miami, FL; great-grands: DeAndres Royal, Trelleny Pollock, Brittanni (Emmanuel Ocquaye) Wright, Cheryl Wright, Sumer and April Singleton; great, great-grands: Santana, Savannah, Sage, Iyana and Ariyanna; nieces and nephews: Hazel, Evelyn, Patricia, Oliver, Jackie, Norman, Linda, Kate, Lennie, Savona, Tommy, Terrence, Robert, Kathleen, Lavern, Linda, Walter, Hilda, Nathaniel, Marcella, Valerie, Mary Louise, and Henry; her "little ones": Duane (Edrina), Tae, Solly, Trevis, Darius, Savannah and Shante; and a host of great-grand nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
