Obituary

Mrs. Ethel Telfare Randolph, a daughter of the late Mr. Willis Telfare Sr., and Mrs. Rachel Washington Telfare, a step- daughter of the late Mrs. Etta Green Telfare, was born on April 20, 1920 in the Liberty Hill section of North Charleston, South Carolina. She departed this earthly life April 30, 2015. With her passing, an Era ended. She was the last known sibling of five children and was predeceased by sisters, Albertha (Charles) Grant and Annabelle (John) Lazenbury; and brothers Willis (Margaret) Telfare and Isaiah Telfare. Ethel gave her life to Christ at an early age and began her spiritual journey as a faithful member of Royal Missionary Baptist Church. Later she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she joined Faith Fellowship Baptist Church and served faithfully as a Prayer Warrior. Her devotion to God was evident in that she believed one should "Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." Her favorite quote, "Only the pure in heart shall see God." Ethel's wit and storytelling will always be something that will be cherished and remembered in our hearts. She enriched our lives each and every day with her first-hand knowledge of both our family history and "the good old days." Ethel was a woman of faith who loved her family, cats, talking on the phone with friends and telling the oral history of changes in society over time. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late John Randolph where the union produced one son, Ronald Telfare Randolph, who preceded both parents in death. Ethel's undying love and acts of kindness for and to her family in general, and to her nieces and nephews, in particular, represented the epitome of a confident and a loving friend. These memories will be remembered and cherished always! Those who remain to celebrate her life are nephews, Charles (Gwendolyn) Grant and Ronald Willis Telfare; nieces, Marva Grant-Ivey, Dr. Lucinda Grant-Griffin, Etta Grant-Ferguson, Margaret Grant-Carter, Gwendolyn Telfare, Bernadette Telfare, Louette Telfare and Angela Telfare-Conner; great-grand nieces and nephews, great-great grand nieces and nephews; dear friends, Ronald Sutton and Clyde Mitchell; and a host of cousins and friends.
