IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eva Inez
Bryant Simmons
May 15, 1934 – December 30, 2021
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." - 2 Corinthians 5:8
Eva Inez Bryant Simmons peacefully transitioned on December 30, 2021, in Richmond, Virginia, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 15, 1934, in New York City, New York to Alma Bryant. At a very early age, Eva moved from New York to Oakley, South Carolina where she was raised. Eva graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1953, and two years later in 1955 she married her beloved husband, Leroy Simmons. The two remained married for 66 beautiful years until Eva's heavenly transition. Eva and Lee had three biological children and one bonus son. Eva was preceded in death by: daughter Gloria Roberts (husband, Lenwood), son Jerome Simmons, and grandson Christopher Roberts. Eva's greatest love was her family.
Eva is survived by: her husband Leroy Simmons, her daughter Janette Wooldridge (husband, Eugene), and her son Cory Bryant (wife, Tauheedah); nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends.
Mrs. Simmons was a lifetime member of Centenary United Methodist Church. During her many years of service, she was involved in many offices, as well as singing in the Adult Choir. She was a licensed barber and beautician before retiring to care for her household. Eva sat hours on fishing banks and was passionate about baking pound cakes and fruit cakes. She also loved clothes shopping and reading, but her favorite pastime was loving on her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Eva left us each with a love to last a lifetime. We will always carry her special memory in our hearts.
