IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evangelist Jacqueline
F. Horry
October 22, 1953 – September 23, 2016
On October 22, 1953, Jacqueline Frances Wilder was born in Roanoke, Virginia, a daughter of the late Norton Bruce and Virginia Allen Wilder.
Jacqueline, better known as Jackie, started her formal education in the Watson Elementary School in Covington, Virginia, and completed her education in the Lynchburg Public School System at Dunbar Junior High School and graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1973. She played on the basketball team, participated in intramural sports, the choir, Junior Achievement and Future Homemakers of America, and was named Who's Who Among American High School Students. She had dreams of being a teacher. She attended Norfolk State University (NSU).
Jackie was baptized at a young age at her father's church, Prayer of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, and served in various positions throughout her youth and teen years. In Norfolk, she was under watch care at Garden of Prayer Church of God in Christ.
While attending college at NSU, Jackie met Joseph Horry. When they met, she said "that's going to be my husband". She was right and they were married on November 22, 1975. They settled in Charleston, South Carolina, and later moved to Moncks Corner, South Carolina, where they lived for the majority of their union. Joseph was called by God to preach, and they started a church together called Christ Temple on September 15, 1985. In 1990, the church's name was changed to Lighthouse Holiness Church. Jackie faithfully supported her husband in the ministry by serving as co-pastor and mother of the church and in caring for their home and children. On April 18, 1999, Jackie was licensed as an Evangelist. Jackie was known for traveling up and down the highways to conduct "shut-ins" at various churches in South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. Jackie also treasured her parents and would travel numerous times, many times with her entire family, to her parents' home in Lynchburg to help take care of them and to celebrate many holidays and special events.
Jackie enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, sketching, going to church, discussing the Word of God, and spending time in prayer. She always encouraged others to praise God.
On Friday, September 23, 2016, the Lord petitioned His elect Angel to bring His devoted servant Evangelist Jacqueline Horry home to a place of eternal rest.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her loving husband of over 40 years, Joseph Horry, Jr.; loving children, Ebony (Michael) James, Joseph (Karen) Horry III, Allen (Andrea) Horry, and Terrell Wilder; five grandchildren, Akeem Horry, Anndreana Horry, Jaylen Horry, Michael James, Jr., and Silease James; two brothers, Timothy Wilder and Sterling Wilder; five sisters, Geraldine Perkins, Toni (Raymond) Pate, Deborah Wilder, Rosalind (Malverse) Simpson, and Paula (Pedro) Ortiz; sister-in-law, Elaine Wilder; adopted daughter, Malinda Blanding; special daughter in the Lord, Nichole Blanding; goddaughter Kristan Blanding; Lighthouse Holiness Church Family; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, foster children, and friends far and near.
