"When I think of the goodness of Jesus And all He's done for me, My soul cries out hallelujah Thank God for saving me." Evangelist Joyce L. McDowell Dingle was born July 31, 1938 in Lexington, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Reverend James Edward McDowell and Lillian Belle Carter McDowell. She received her education in the schools of Lexington, KY. She was employed as a medical assistant at Rochdale Medical Group in Jamaica, New York. Upon moving to South Carolina, she was a home health care provider. She enjoyed caring for people and did so with great compassion. Inspired by the Christian values instilled in her by her parents, Evangelist Dingle accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She became a servant of God and was very involved in the church. While living in New York, she was an Associate Minister with the Freewill Baptist Church, Freeport, Long Island, NY. In Moncks Corner, South Carolina, she was a member of Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an Evangelist. She also was a talented musician and played the keyboard. Evangelist Dingle witnessed her faith for God on a daily basis as is found in verse 1 of her favorite scripture, Psalms 34: "I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth." She loved speaking and evangelizing at various churches and church programs telling others about God. She was united in holy matrimony to Edmund W. Dingle in May 1965. This union was blessed with two sons; one son, Kevin D. Dingle, preceded her in death. On December 17, 2012, at her home surrounded by family, Evangelist Dingle quietly slipped away in a peaceful sleep into eternal life with the Lord. Evangelist Dingle will be remembered for her loving heart, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering faith in God. She will be greatly missed by many. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Edmund W. Dingle, Sr. of Moncks Corner, SC; son, Edmund G. (Belinda) Dingle of Jacksonville, NC; grandson whom she reared, Edmund E. (Jamera) Dones of Moncks Corner, SC; stepdaughter, Valerie J. (Greg) Ruth of Fredericksburg, VA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pastor Jacqueline M. White of Lexington, KY, Carola L. Rice and Evelyn J. McDowell both of Atlanta, GA; brother, James E. McDowell, Jr. of Englewood, NJ; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. May you rest in peace.
