Mrs. Evelyn Phyall Milford, also known as "Evelena", the daughter of the late Levi and Rosa Phyall of Jamestown, South Carolina, was born on November 15, 1931. She departed this life on Sunday, December 30, 2012. She joined Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church at an early age. She graduated from Jamestown High School. She attended college in North Carolina. She was employed at Good Samaritan and St. Joseph Hospital for over 45 years. She was also a volunteer firefighter with the Baltimore City Fire Department. On November 21, 1953, Evelyn was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Harry H. Milford. This union was blessed with six children. Her husband preceded her in death. She was a member of Christ Holy Temple Church for many years. She was a high-spirited person. She was President of her choir, a lead singer with the Randle Gospel Singers and she played many musical instruments in church. She attended Jeremiah Temple Church in Baltimore, MD. She was also the Church Mother of Jeremiah's Temple. She was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories: six children, Henry H. Milford (Esther) and Carl J. Milford (Anescha), Jamestown, SC, Eliza M. Pinckney (Anthony), St. Stephen, SC, Shirley A. Milford, Baltimore, MD, Mary J. Prioleau (Ronnie), Alvin, SC and Johnny L. Milford (Gerlinda), Baltimore, MD; one adopted daughter, Rosa Johnston, Baltimore, MD; one sister, Adlean Nole (Albert), Jamestown, SC; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; two special cousins, Vanilla Nixon and Joretha Fordham; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
