Sister Floria Mae Jenkins was the daughter of the late Evangelist Agnes W. Wiley and Reverend George Gadson. She was born in Berkeley County, South Carolina on January 1, 1936, and attended the school system there.

She faithfully served within the congregation of several Baptist churches in the surrounding area and rejoined the family of Canaan Christian Church of Moncks Corner, SC. She served in various capacities such as a Disciple Woman, Missionary, Senior Ministry and Senior Choir.

She was united in holy wedlock to the late Elder Eugene Washington. To this union ten children were born; two preceded her in transition, Alfred Gadson, Sr. and Michael Washington. She is survived by eight other children: Alonzo Washington, Sr. (Alice Miranda) of Summerville, SC, Carolyn Cummings of Miami, FL, Maxine Gourdine of Summerville, SC, Mary Johnson of North Charleston, SC, Sandra Pendergrass (Norman) of North Charleston, SC, Joe Washington, Sr. (Gwendolyn) of Pineville, SC, Timothy Washington of Ladson, SC, and Rodney Washington (Patricia) of San Antonio, TX; 29 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

After the death of her husband, she was united in holy wedlock to the late Elder George Jenkins; to which she gained eight stepchildren: Lillie Mae Jones (George) of St. Stephen, SC, George Jenkins, Jr. (Rebecca) of St. Stephen, SC, David Jenkins (Deloris) of Bronx, NY, Walter Nathaniel of Portland, OR, Beatrice Crawford (Jonathan), Marie Wailings (Gilbert), Jeanette Jenkins and Doris Jenkins all of Baltimore, MD.

She also leaves to mourn a special friend Deacon Willie Smith.

We acknowledge her transition on March 1, 2016, represents the end of a generation as she was the youngest of seven siblings: Mae Smith Peace, Flossie Gadson, Wiley Brown, Ruth Richardson, Essie Richardson, Eva Walker, and David Gadson.
