Obituary

Mr. Freddie Johnson was born on June 3, 1948, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, the fourth child born to the union of the late Eugene and Bertha Lee Manigault Johnson. His earthly life ended on July 25, 2024, for an eternal life with God.

Freddie received his formal education in the Berkeley County Public School System and graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1966. He was drafted into the United States Army on February 13,1968  and served two (2) years and received an Honorable Discharge on February 12, 1970. During his military service he received several prestigious awards, including the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. After returning from his military duties, he attended Trident Technical College. He was proficient in plumbing, electrical, mechanics, carpentry, and with his carpentry experience he was able to build his own HOME. He was a master gardener who excelled in growing delicious vegetables and fruits, his hunting skills, included killing anything, walking, flying, running or crawling around the "NO FLY ZONE" (his house!!!!). Freddie was employed with Bayer Company in Bushy Park for 32 years. During his tenure he received several awards. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Freddie held several positions at Anderson Baptist Church: Chairman of the Trustee Board, where he served for 23 years, member of the Male Chorus, respected and loyal bus driver for the church for many years, and he also performed numerous duties when necessary. He was a member of Moncks Corner Lodge #323, F&AM, PHA. He was also a member of Thurgood Marshall Consistory #367, AASR, PHA.

Preceding him into Glory were his parents, Eugene and Bertha Lee Johnson; two brothers, Leroy and Derry Johnson and one niece, Aicia Johnson.

Freddie leaves to cherish his loving memories: his faithful and beloved wife of 35 years, Geraldine Limehouse Johnson; children, Fredrica S. Johnson, Goose Creek, Trevor T. Johnson, Goose Creek, Craig M. (Shawnta) Middleton, Summerville, and Jacquet A. Green, Knightsville; siblings, Edward Johnson, Solomon (Audrey) Johnson, Sarah (Willie) Lyles, Robert (Anne) Johnson, Louella (Vann) Haymon and Cheryl (Bernard) Graham; three sisters-in-law, Janice C. Johnson, Barbara Whitaker, and Carrie Scott; one brother-in-law, R. L. Johnson. Freddies' legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren: Mikayla, Jalen, Caleb, Latrelle, Laila, Ciara, Ash'aka, Andre, Tyshaun, Superior, Jahtae, London, Craig, Deshawn and Aiyana; three aunts, Corneil Manigault (Horris) Young, Hester Manigault, Caldonina Limehouse and Joseph Limehouse; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024, 1:00 p.m., at Anderson Baptist Church, 1159 Old Black Oak Road, Moncks Corner, SC, with burial following in the church's cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home, and on Wednesday at the church, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. There will be no viewing after the service.
