A Time to be Born…
Reverend George Lee Bryant was the youngest of 13 children begotten from the union of the late Lawrence Bryant and Annie Snipe Bryant. He was born August 2, 1920 in the "Hog Swamp" Community of Pinopolis, Berkeley County, South Carolina.
A Time to Work…
Rev. Bryant attended the public schools of Berkeley County. Having been instilled in him the importance of hard work, he honed his carpentry skills and became a Master Carpenter and an expert Electrician by trade.
A Time to Love…
Proverbs 18:22 says, "He who findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth favor of the LORD." On November 26, 1939, Rev. Bryant found the love of his life in the person of the late Blanch McClam Bryant of Andrews, SC. To this union, one son, Samuel Lee, who preceded him in death, was born. Another son, Arthur Lee Bryant also preceded him in death.
A Time to Speak…
Rev. Bryant was a people person who never met a stranger. He was very active in the community and in Berkeley County. For many years, he served as Precinct Captain of the Whitesville Voting Precinct and was instrumental in not only getting residents registered to vote, but also in making sure they got to the polls to vote. He was one of the founders and in 1980, became a Charter Member of the Berkeley County Progressive League, and for innumerable years, served as its President.
A Time to Enjoy Life…
It is important to one's quality of life to take the time to relax and enjoy life. Rev. Bryant did this by taking part in his favorite past times. He was a member of the Canton Creek Hunting Club. He was also an avid fisherman and was most proud of his giant catfish catch.
A Time to be about His Father's Business…
Growing up in a Christian home, Rev. George Lee Bryant, accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age in Old Nazareth Reformed Episcopal. In the early 1960's, he answered the Master's Call and entered Cummins Memorial Theological Seminary. He graduated in the Class of 1963 and was ordained Presbyter during the Annual Convocation in September 1963, He has served as Pastor in the following Reformed Episcopal Churches: Immanuel, Cross; Liberty, Jamestown; St. Michael, St. Stephen; St. Matthews, North Charleston; Mt. Olivet, Rantowles; Christ, John's Island; St. James, Cordesville; and St. Stephen, Summerville.
Rev. Bryant later transferred his membership to the Baptist Church and served as Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church, Summerville. Upon retirement, he became a member of Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Bryant lived out the meaning of his favorite sermon topic: "How Can a Person be Happy Without God?" taken from Ecclesiastes 1:2-3.
A Time to Die…
On the morning of Friday, July 10, 2020, God instructed his most special angel to take a set of wings, go to the Summerville Community Hospice House and peacefully and quietly bring His precious servant home to the mansion that was built especially for Him high up in the Heavens. Rev. Bryant donned his wings and took his flight.

s Nine great-grandchildren, including three very special great-grandchildren (Alecia, AJ and Ayana) and two great, great-grandchildren
s A host of other family members and friends
A special "Thank You" is extended to the Staff of Agape Hospice, especially nurses, Sonia and Marlena; Nurse Practitioner, Rich; and CAN, Cindy.
Viewing will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Private Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 17, 2020. 11:00 a.m., at the O. Allen Gethers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. As per CDC guidelines for COVID-19, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
