Georgia Murray Brown, daughter of the late Sarah Hill and Will Kendrick, was born on November 27, 1927 in Sparta, Georgia. She attended Hancock County schools.
Georgia moved to Philadelphia, PA, in 1945, where she met and married her husband of 50 years, John Brown. Together they raised their nephew, Albert Brown. In 2016, she moved to Summerville, SC, with her niece Mattie Alston.
Georgia was fun loving and warm hearted. She was known as an excellent cook. She loved music, puzzles, and trips to Atlantic City.
On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Georgia was called home.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two nieces, Mattie Alston of Summerville, SC and Berniece Smith of Atlanta, GA; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Dent, Mozelle McCullen, and Essie Brown all of Philadelphia, PA; a host of grandnieces and grandnephews; and a large number of friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Greater St. James AMEC Cemetery, 1831 Jedburg Road, Summerville, SC. There will be a viewing at the cemetery from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow after the service.
