Gerald Haynes, son of the late Mr. Leroy C. Haynes and Mrs. Erthalee Reid Haynes, was born on June 13, 1964 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He departed this life on Thursday evening, April 25, 2024 at 4:16 p.m. at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, SC.

Gerald was educated in the Berkeley County Public Schools. He graduated from Berkeley High School in 1982.

He became a member of St. James AME Church, now known as Moncks Corner AME Church in his early teen years.

He loved his family. He was very quiet and laid back. He was one who helped others if he could.

He loved fishing, landscaping and grilling out with friends and family.

He was employed by Bi-Lo grocery store in Moncks Corner, SC and also later was employed by Nucor Steel in Huger, SC.

He loved children. He was one who didn't mind taking them as his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leroy Jr. and Gene Autry; and one sister, Patricia Haynes all of Moncks Corner, SC.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother, Richard Lee Haynes of Moncks Corner, SC; three sisters, Ermena Marion, Susan Major (Donald) and Ida Davis all of Moncks Corner, SC; one very special friend, Ida Lee Coutrair of Jamestown, SC; three aunts, Rev. Verdelle Williams (Brister), Viola Rogers and Rev. Lillie Mae Reid all of Moncks Corner, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at O. Allen Gethers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Moncks Corner, SC. Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
