Obituary

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness... II Timothy 4: 7-8a Gerald Reid, the son of Theodore and Aslee Nettie Reid, was born July 11, 1959 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Gerald was loved and cared for at home where he entered into eternal rest on July 4, 2013. At an early age, Gerald accepted Christ as his Savior and became a member of Greater Emanuel AME Church where he was a faithful member. He sang with the Male Choir and the Gospel Choir. He was also a loyal member of the Church School, and he attended Bible Study faithfully. Gerald received his education in the public schools of Berkeley County and was a 1977 graduate of Berkeley High School. He traveled back and forth to New York where he met and married the love of his life Kim M. Rucker in 1986. They began their lives together in Cordesville, SC. Gerald was employed at Blue & Gold, Goose Creek, SC for fifteen years. He was an auto mechanic and loved working on cars. Gerald was affectionately known by several names: "Daddy Dreads", "Daddy Gerald", "G Man", Black", "Jelly Roll", "Puzzy Wuzzy", and "Uncle Ears." Gerald was very much loved by everyone he met. He will truly be missed by many. Gerald leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Kim M. (Betty) Rucker, Jr.; four sisters-in-law, Renee Burke, Donna Rucker, Lisa Young Thompson and Robin Tucker; special cousin, Olympia "Penny" Ellington; nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle G"; and a host of cousins and friends.
