Gertrude Wilson Lloyd, also affectionately known as "Hun", was the daughter of the late Isaac and Viola Wilson. Gertrude was born August 25, 1929 in the Sawmill section of Berkeley County, SC. Gertrude transitioned on December 15, 2022 at Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital, Summerville, SC, with her family by her side.
Gertrude attended the public schools of Berkeley County. She was employed as a cafeteria worker at R. A. Ready Elementary School, Moncks Corner, SC for many years. She was also a housekeeper serving many families in Berkeley County.
Gertrude accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Cordesville United Methodist Church where she served as an Usher and on the Pastor's Stewardess Board.
Gertrude was married to Earn John Lloyd. To this union seven children were born. Her husband preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish precious memories: seven children, Gloria (Rev. Rubin) Croker, St. Stephen, SC, Inetha Wilson, Rockville, MD, Evon Harris Bumbray, Clinton, MD, Audrey Croker, Moncks Corner, SC, Charles (Jericia Dash) Lloyd, Bronx, NY, Myra (Sam) Revish, Virginia Beach, VA and Jamesetta Reid, Moncks Corner, SC; one sister, Lubertha White, Cordesville, SC; three sisters-in-law, Rosa Lee Wilson, Cordesville, SC, Geneva Gaillard, Moncks Corner, SC and Mary Wilson, Orangeburg, SC; one brother-in-law, John Lloyd, Maryland; two special granddaughters, Antoinette Walker and Maria Croker; a special niece, Rosetta Wilson; a Goddaughter, Jametta Wilson; 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 4 great, great, grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Gertrude was preceded in death by: two brothers, Isaac Wilson and Leroy Wilson; two sisters, Henrietta Sass and Laura Ferguson; two great-grandchildren, Kevin Wilson, Jr. and Ashanti Prioleau.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Face masks are required. Home Going Service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, 12:00 p.m., at Cordesville United Methodist Church, 1400 Doctor Evans Road, Moncks Corner, SC. Interment will be in Tabo (Taveau) Cemetery, Moncks Corner, SC.
