IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold Vernon
Lloyd
May 17, 1947 – November 13, 2020
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not build by human hands. 2 Corinthians 5:1
Harold Vernon Lloyd, affectionately known as "Harold", "Uncle Harold" and "Cripp", was the youngest son of Eddister and Phoebe Ann Benekin Lloyd. He entered this world on May 17, 1947 and left this world of pain to enter into eternal rest on November 13, 2020.
Harold received his early education in the Berkeley County School System. His mother diligently and faithfully brought him up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord at Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church, where he later became a member.
He was a very skilled mechanic. If he couldn't find a part, he would make one. He worked for several years at the Ford Dealership in Moncks Corner, SC but later became self-employed. He may not have come when he said he would, but you didn't mind because the amount he charged you, if any, was so low, it made up for the delay. He enjoyed fishing and was known for his "cat-fish stew". He loved sitting, talking and making jokes. He was loved by children and was the bouncer and protector of the neighborhood children, wherever he lived. His jolly personality helped him to make many friends who would come and sit under the garage just to talk and fix anything that needed fixing.
Harold met and married the late Leola Diane Spann of Cross, SC where they lived for many years. To this union three children were born. He would later relocate back to his Pineville home.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Terry Thompson of Jersey City, NY and Tony Lloyd of Conway, SC; two daughters, Jennifer Lloyd of Cross, SC and Ashley Lloyd (David James) of Dorchester, SC; two sisters, Rita D. Lloyd of the home and Beatrice (John) Theirse of Bronx, NY; ten grandchildren: LaShonda Thompson, Chaniece Thompson, Amber Thompson, Terry Thompson, Jr., Tyrese Thompson, Tylina Hall, Janazia T. Hall, JyTalay M. Hall, Davia S. James, Karmen S. Taylor; three great-grands: Xiana Amona Jones, Tyannah A. Wharton, Isiah Thompson; brothers-in-law: Willie (Rebecca) Spann of Cross, SC, Harold (Gloria) Spann of Jersey City, NJ and Leroy Paisley of Lanes, SC; sisters-in-law: Ethel Mae Pinckney of Cross, SC and Geneva Lloyd of Pineville, SC; a faithful and devoted God-child and friend, James Wells, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and devoted friends
