Obituary

Ms. Harriet E. Anderson, the daughter of the late Joseph and Albertha Gerald Anderson, was born on October 26, 1943. She departed this life on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, New York.

Harriet grew up in the small town of Saint Stephen, SC., where she attended Zion United Methodist church, currently New Light UM Church. She graduated Salutatorian from Russellville High School, class of 1961.

After graduation she moved to New York where she attended Helene Fuld College of Nursing. She obtained her degree in nursing in 1988 as a RN. During her career, she worked at several hospitals, Lenox Hill Hospital, Mt. Sinai, and Hospital for Special Surgery. She worked at Kateri Residence Nursing Home and received numerous awards including Employee of the Year. She retired from ArchCare Terence Cardinal Cooke Center, New York, NY in 2008.

Harriet attended and served as an active member of Ebenezer Wesleyan Methodist Church and Community Center, 1572 Lexington Ave, New York, NY, where Minister Lenell Young is pastor. Harriet served as a deaconess and vice president of the Trustee board.

Harriet was always a kind, loving and compassionate woman. She lived with love and purpose for her family. A loyal supporter for family, she was always ready and willing to help and provide guidance whenever needed. She was the great grandmother, grandmother, mother, sister, aunt that loved with a stern hand. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, and watching her favorite TV shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was also an avid New York Knicks fan.

Harriet was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her son Kenneth D. Anderson, brothers Carl, Henry, Gerald, Charles and Mark.

Left to cherish her memory: Daughters: Annette Anderson and Yvonne (Patrick) Holder. Grandchildren: Cielita, Kenya, Cameron (Bianca), Brandon, Brittany, Kenneth, Alexis and Tyler. Great-grandchildren: Ahmari, Amir, Maia, Soleil, Aiden, Hero, Braylen, Uriyah, and Victoria. Brothers: Reginald (Catherine), Franklin and Jonathan (Michelle). Sisters: Priscilla, Ralphine (George), Amanda and Nathalie (Jeffrey) and nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
