Harris "Shorty" McHoney Jr., the son of the late Harris McHoney Sr. and Sally McHoney, was born on July 20, 1949 in Bonneau, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Trident Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina.
Brother McHoney was educated in the Berkeley County School System, graduating from Russellville High School. He was employed at Commercial Bonded Warehouse for several years.
He was a member of Greater St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, Bonneau, SC.
He was united in Holy Matrimony on July 26, 1975 to Mary Bennett of Bonneau, SC. This union was blessed with two sons.
Brother McHoney enjoyed being with family, and had a special love and bond for his grandchildren and other family members. He loved watching movies and enjoyed football. His favorite team was the Green Bay Packers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harris McHoney, Sr. and a brother, Willie James McHoney.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his loving and devoted wife, Mary B. McHoney; his sons, Michael D. (Ishla) McHoney of Summerville, SC and Keith N. McHoney of Ladson, SC; a loving mother, Sally McHoney of Bonneau, SC; three brothers and two sisters, Johnnie (Shirley) McHoney of Bronx, NY, Robert (Barbara) McHoney and Christopher McHoney both of Bonneau, SC, Shirley (Bobbie) Pough of Philadelphia, PA and Annie (John-Deceased) Wright of Bonneau, SC; three grandchildren, Kayen, Kera and Morgan McHoney of Summerville, SC; special father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Annie S. Bennett, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Willie Joe (Willie Mae) Palmer and Joseph (Elouise) Bennett, Jr. both of Bonneau, SC, Walter Lee (Patrice) Bennett of Jacksonville, FL, Leroy and Albert Bennett both of Bonneau, SC and Nathaniel Bennett of Gastonia, NC; sisters-in-law, Bertha B. (James) Wright, Annie R. (Michael) Bowens, Clarissa (Joseph) Shirah and Rhunnett (William) Nelson all of Bonneau, SC; a special friend, Julius Middleton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Brother McHoney will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
