Obituary

Hazel J. Frasier, the daughter of the late Eddie Johnson and Alma England Johnson, was born August 11, 1940 in Charleston, SC.  She departed this life on Friday, May 12, 2017 at home. She began her early years in Charleston, SC and later moved to Moncks Corner, SC. She graduated from Berkeley Training High School.

On August 1, 1959, she married Prince Frasier.  To this union two children were born. Hazel migrated to Brooklyn, NY with her husband and children in the late 60's and began her career in food service at Kings County Hospital.

After a number of years at Kings County, she decided to further her education and attended classes at New York University.  Upon completion of her courses, Hazel became a food services supervisor at Metropolitan Hospital in New York City.  She retired from this position in 1999.

In 2000, Hazel moved with her beloved husband Prince back to Moncks Corner, SC. She had enough of the cold icy winters she experienced for over 30 years in New York City.

Coming back to Moncks Corner allowed her to work in her yard and tend her flowers. If she visited you and you had a plant or a flower she liked, she would take a piece before she left to plant in her yard.

Upon returning to Moncks Corner, Hazel joined Moncks Corner Baptist Church which was her childhood church.  She was very active at Moncks Corner Baptist until her illness caused her to slow down a little.  She was the treasurer of the Hospitality Ministry, vice president of the Senior Choir, and secretary of the Senior Missionaries.  She also volunteered at the Moncks Corner Baptist Community Soup Kitchen.

Hazel was an advocate for seniors. She was a member of the Moncks Corner Senior Center.  She never met a stranger and was a one woman "welcome committee". She would take new members under her wing and made them feel welcomed. She had a "servant heart" and enjoyed serving others.

She loved to travel; she always kept a bag ready to go. Shopping, crafting, and decorating were among some of her other pastimes.  Most of all, she loved people. You could always count on words of encouragement from Hazel.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Prince; daughter, Lauren (John) Robbins; son, Clifford (Natasha) Frasier; sisters, Anna Lee (Ernest) Bailey, Justine Smalls, Dorisa Simmons, Rosa (Benjamin) Gibbs and Albertha (Clay) Mazyck; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Thearthey Johnson and Anne Frasier; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
