IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen
Harleston
June 29, 1935 – August 14, 2018
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. - Psalm 116:15
Helen Harleston, daughter of the late Joe and Mary Ella Segar, was born on June 29, 1935 in Cordesville, SC. On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, Helen peacefully transitioned from this life into eternal life with the Lord.
Helen received her education in the public schools of Cordesville. She was employed at Davis Modernize Dry Cleaners, Summerville, SC, for over 40 years.
She was a faithful member of Irving Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and served diligently until her health declined. She served in the following capacities: Steward Board, Choir, Lay Organization and the Women's Missionary Society (which she served as President).
Helen was united in holy matrimony to Namon Harleston who preceded her in death.
Helen was a woman of strength and love. She had a love for God and people. She was loved by many because of the love she shared with others. Helen had such a mild and humble spirit, was full of life, and never shunned away from work.
Helen's hobbies were fishing, gardening, and most of all doing laundry. Her favorite saying to the little ones was "I been ta Chas'ton today". She will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, infectious smile, and her unwavering faith in God.
She leaves to cherish sweet memories: her children, Deloris Harleston, Mary Reid (Elder Joseph), Isreal Harleston (Idella), Naymon Harleston, Jr. (Barbara) and Hattie Flowers (Joel); sisters, Bobby Louise Hines and Geneva Gaillard; a special granddaughter raised as a daughter, Stephanie R. Brown (Maurice); 16 grandchildren, 40 great, grandchildren and 3 great, great, grandchildren; special cousins, Betty and Stanley Richmond and Mack Bennett, Jr; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
