Obituary

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure

is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,

I have kept the faith:

Henrietta Washington Blake, the daughter of the late Tony and Hattie Washington, was born October 17, 1917, in the South Santee section of McClellanville, South Carolina.

Henrietta's early education was received in the Public Schools of Charleston County.

Henrietta was united in holy matrimony to the late Tony Blake, Sr. To this union 12 children were born. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ethel Dees; two sons, Abraham Blake, and Richard Blake.

Henrietta gave her life to Jesus Christ at a very early age and was a faithful and committed member of Lily Pond Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the 'Mother of the Church'. She was President of the Senior Choir and served as a member of the Pastors Aide Board and the Missionary Society. She was a member of Guiding Light Charter #268 Order of the Eastern Star.

She was faithful in her home, provided comfort for the family and always extended an open door to relatives, friends and neighbors.

Henrietta leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories, her daughters: Justine Richardson of Neptune, NJ, Helen 'Dorothy' Nelson (Leon) of McClellanville, SC, Sarah Blake of Washington, DC, Mary 'Emma' Simon (Manny) of Neptune, NJ, Barbara German of McClellanville, SC.

Her sons, Tony Blake, Jr. (Gladys) of Brooklyn, NY, Robert Blake (Roberta) of Queens, NY, Joe Allen Blake (Rita) of Manning, SC and O'Neal Blake, Sr. (Sylvia) of Neptune, NJ.

Fifty (50) grandchildren, fifty (50) great-grandchildren, fifteen (15) great, great -Grandchildren and six (6) great, great, great-grandchildren.

Six (6) Daughters-in-law: Roxie, Roberta, Rita, Gladys, Sylvia and Gwendolyn; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Home Going Service will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Lily Pond Missionary Baptist Church, 724 South Santee Road, McClellanville, SC. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be in Old Board Cemetery. FACE MASKS ARE MANDATORY.
