Henry Davis (Richard Jager), was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina on December 19, 1923. The late John and Julia Jager reared him from an infant. He was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. At an early age he was christened in St. Luke Methodist Church in Eadytown, South Carolina. After leaving South Carolina, Henry moved to New Jersey in the early 1940s. Shortly after his arrival he joined St. Micheal Methodist Church in Jersey City, where he was a lifelong, faithful member. He was employed with Port Liberty as a longshoreman for over forty years until his retirement. Henry was a very loving and caring person who loved life and his family. He was also dedicated to helping the children in the community. Henry was a long time member of the Friendship Masonic Lodge #44. Henry was preceded in death by his two sisters, Wilhelmina Jager Pittman and Catherine JW Halback and his brother, Nathan Jager. Cherishing his memories are: his son, Eddie Milligan; a grandson; a lifelong companion, Bernice White; three nieces, Albertha Pittman Peace, Ruby Williams and Aprile Pittman; a cherished friend and medical caregiver, Delores Lester; a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
