IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Isabel "Sister"
Burch Brown
August 27, 1930 – March 2, 2022
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." - Matthew 11:28-30
Mrs. Isabel Burch Brown, affectionately known as "Sister Burch", the daughter of the late Mr. Frank and Mrs. Essie Major Burch, was born August 27, 1930 in Eutawville, South Carolina. She departed this life surrounded by family, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the age of 91.
Isabel was educated in the public schools of Charleston County, SC. After many years working, she retired from Carolina Capacitor.
Isabel was united in matrimony to Thomas Homer Brown on December 12, 1948. They were blessed with six children. Her husband and three children preceded her in death.
Isabel began her early Christian experience at Nazareth Reformed Episcopal Church in Pinopolis, SC. After her marriage to Thomas, she joined Wesley United Methodist Church. As a member, she served on various committees.
Isabel was the matriarch of the family. She was always very loving and kind. She had a generous spirit and could be counted on in times of need. Although she was never afraid of hard work, she always remembered the importance of sprinkling in some humor every day. Her laughter was warm and infectious. Before her health declined, she would always visit her family and friends. She loved catalog books, crossword puzzles, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Our sweet "Sister Burch" had a love for fashion and jewelry.
Isabel was committed to her family and shared special memories with them that they will miss, but will forever treasure in their hearts. Her oldest daughter Daisy will miss their conversations filled with laughter and how she would affectionately call her "Mae". Her son Levi fondly recalls her taking her time to put on all of her jewelry as she was getting ready each day. Her daughter Thomasena will miss going with her to get garlic crabs. Her grandchildren will miss her storytelling and amazing baked goodies. Isabel's legacy of love will continue to live through her family.
Those who will always cherish her sweet memories are: her children, Daisy Mae Legare (James), Levi Brown (Delcena) and Thomasena Olivia Gadsden all of Moncks Corner, SC; brother, David Daniel Burch Sr. of Radcliff, KY; grandchildren, James Legare Jr., Tamara Brown, Shatarcia Smith (Keith), Virgil Legare, Jennifer Moultrie (Willie), Vera Bagley, Sonya Legare, Levi Brown Jr. and Sheryl Adams. Isabel leaves behind 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; close friends, Mrs. Louise B. Smith, Mrs. Mary Grant, Mrs. Annie Middleton, and Mrs. Beauty Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
