"Emae" Moore
November 6, 1920 – June 6, 2019
Isamay Gerald Moore , fourth child of the late Harley Dixon and Siller Jefferson Gerald, was born on Saturday, November 6, 1920 in Berkeley County, SC. She departed this life on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the home of her niece. God allowed her to live a long and fruitful life.
Emae, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, grew up in Saint Stephen and attended the former Roswell School of Berkeley County. After graduation, she worked on the family farm, along with doing domestic work.
Emae was married to Albert Moore on March 31, 1941 in Charleston, SC. They were married for 52 years.
Emae was a faithful member of New Light United Methodist Church, formerly Zion United Methodist Church, in Saint Stephen, SC where she sang on the choir, was treasurer of the Usher Board, a Member-at-Large, member of the Outreach Committee, secretary and member of Union #6 Usher Board, and Mother of the Church from 2017 until the time of her death. Emae was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Saint Stephen Chapter #158 and Home Charity Lodge #8.
Emae's lifelong activities and interests included basketball, baseball, gardening, fishing, embroidery, but most importantly was her Christian walk with God. Her many words of wisdom to her family included: Children, obey your parents, be good and humble, respect your elders and do what you can for others. Trust and believe in God, and He will direct your path.
Emae was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all of her siblings.
Emae leaves a legacy of love behind. Those who will forever have her in their memories: a devoted niece/daughter, Priscilla G. Lawrence; grandniece/daughter, Annette A. Bennett; nieces, Harriet Anderson, Ralphine (George) Halls, Amanda Jager and Nathalie (Jeffrey) Johnson; nephew/son, Reginald (Catherine) Gerald; nephews, Franklin Jenkins and Jonathan (Michelle) Jager; and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and nephews, great-great-grandnieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Her Home Going Service will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at New Light United Methodist Church, 1037 Russellville Road, St. Stephen, SC. Burial will be in Tri Churches Cemetery. Viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Gethers Funeral Chapel, 221 Church Road, St. Stephen, SC.
