James Michael Heyward was the son of Mrs. Annie Mae Levy Heyward and the late Mr. Allen Heyward. He was born on December 8, 1948 and he quietly slipped away into eternal rest on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 4:35 a.m. James, affectionately called "Black Cat" by his family and friends, attended Berkeley County Schools. He became employed at the age of 16 at West Red & White until he became seriously injured. Later in life, he began to do the work that he loved - yard work and landscaping. "Black Cat" was a member of Moncks Corner A.M.E. Church, Moncks Corner, South Carolina, where he served as an Usher. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Patricia Wiggs. This union was blessed with three children. James was preceded in death by four brothers: Jesse, William, Raymond and Allen Jr.; and three sisters, Celia Ann, Eva and Emma. James leaves to cherish loving memories: his loving wife, Patricia Wiggs Heyward; his mother, Annie Mae Heyward; two daughters, Myra L. Williams and Connie Butler; three sons, Kevin Mathis, Christopher Heyward (Lacrichia) and James Heyward; one brother, Samuel Heyward (Lerline); four sisters: Alethia Simmons, Shirley Heyward, Jacquelyn Heyward and Evelyn Heyward all of Moncks Corner, SC; fifteen grandchildren, one special granddaughter, Courtney Pringle and two great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Evelyn Brabham, Sadie Heyward (Benjamin), Charles Wiggs (Desiree) of Moncks Corner, SC, Wiley Wiggs (Sharon) of Maryland and Shawn Wiggs of Florida; two special friends, Wilfred Hamilton and Angelia Smalls; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
