James E. Borden, 95, was born to the late James and Virginia Borden in Berkeley County, South Carolina on August 16, 1928. He transitioned to his Heavenly Reward on May 27, 2024, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina after a brief illness.

From the time he was a child, James was always a warm and gracious person, who helped all who crossed his path.  James was educated in the Moncks Corner school system.

James accepted Jesus Christ at an early age while living and serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ faithfully. James joined Irving Chapel AME Church and served in various roles and capacities over his lifetime.  James was honorably bequeathed as Deacon of the Church.

James was successfully employed for many years in the automotive industry prior to spreading his entrepreneurial wings and establishing his own automotive business. As a Charlestonian, James cultivated his life and built a successful automotive career where he grew and nurtured various professional relationships with local business peers in the Charleston automotive community.

During his retirement, James enjoyed motorcycling, spending time with his family, and his dog, Eeyore.  James had profound love for the youth in his family which was unmatched.  When his grandchildren, nieces or nephews encountered him they knew they would be greeted with his big smile accompanied by his love, encouragement and a treat or keepsake of some type.  His love and light will be deeply missed.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Adele Borden.  James' late siblings include Maggie Borden, Samuel Borden, Harris Borden, Albertha Pear (Sam), Benjamin Borden, Viola Dunmore (Paul), and Geneva Borden.

Those left to cherish James' memory are his son, Arthur Taylor, and daughter, Lillian O'Dom;  Alphonso (Frances) Borden of Englewood, NJ; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Cleo "Bell" Borden, Loretta Lillian Borden and Iola Borden; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, 1:00 p.m., at O. Allen Gethers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. Viewing will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. There will be no public viewing on Friday.

Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, 1010 Cooper Store Road, Moncks Corner, SC.
