IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Brown,
Jr.
July 4, 1953 – September 12, 2021
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." ~ II Timothy 4:7
God blessed Annie Pearlene and James Brown, Sr. with a special baby boy, James Brown, Jr . on July 4, 1953 (born on the same day as his Great Grandma Phinne).
James accepted Christ as his Savior and became a communicant member of Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church under the leadership of his great uncle, the late Reverend Abraham Gadsden.
James was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and was a 1971 graduate of St. Stephen High School. James was employed in the Chemical Division of Georgia Pacific for 32 years before retiring.
James loved his family, his friends and his Pittsburgh Steelers. He was married to Bertha Hamilton, and this union was blessed with two sons, James Juawan and Brandon Dennard.
James became ill back in April of this year. There were many days of ups and downs, low valleys and high hills. Throughout these past five months; not once did we hear James complain or faint under distress. The prayers of his sons, family members and friends helped lead James to a deepen faith in God, and we watched as he began to totally depend upon the Master. A few of his last hours on this earth, James spent time in prayer, listening to Scripture and in song with family. He was content and at peace. While resting comfortably and peacefully; God wrapped His loving arms around James early Sunday morning, September 12, 2021, and he quietly transitioned from this earthly life.
James leaves to cherish his legacy and remember his life: his loving and devoted sons: James Juawan of Charlotte, NC and Brandon Dennard of Greenville, SC; his grandchildren: Atarah, Trinity, Riley and Jameson; the mother of his children, Bertha L. Hamilton Brown; his siblings: Orlando (Julia) Brown, Sr., Dr. Joann Brown Smith, Ronald (Sonya) Brown and Kevin Brown; one aunt, Naomi Prioleau Gadsden; loving nephews and nieces, cousins, in-laws, friends, classmates, neighbors and acquaintances.
