Obituary

Mr. James Leon Robinson, Jr., also known as "Bootsie", son of the late James Leon Robinson, Sr. and Earline Gourdine Robinson, was born on December 23, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He departed this life on Monday, August 29, 2016 in Pineville, South Carolina.

Leon attended the public schools of Philadelphia, graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School.

He then joined the United States Marine Corps and served tours in Vietnam and had a lot of stories to tell. He later received an Honorable Discharge.

He was first married to Debra Brown and from this union was born a son, Rodney Leon Robinson. He then married Shelly Robinson of Pineville, SC and this union was blessed with three children, Jalilia Robinson Middleton, James Robinson and Nadaria Robinson. James later  married Sharlen Pressley and assisted in raising a stepson, Thomas Pressley and two stepdaughters, Sheleane Jenkins and Earline Cleo Pressley.

Bootsie was a very intelligent, smart, loving and caring individual. He was an excellent welder and had a black belt in karate. He had a degree in Horticulture and could grow the most beautiful garden. He  loved to discuss herbal medicines and how to stay healthy.

We will miss the long talks, that beautiful laugh and his open mindedness and youthful spirit. Although he lived most of his life in South Carolina, he never failed to let someone know he was born in Philly.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Cleo Veronica McCain and a half brother, Wesley.

In addition to his children, he leaves to cherish his memories, nieces, Linda Burrell-Cohen, Dory Bennett and Malakeyla Reynolds; a nephew, Tyrone Brown; a paternal aunt, Katherine Outlaw; a host of cousins and friends.
