Eulogy

Our Dad, James Wilmore Trice ll, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Delores Trice and James Wilmore Trice on September 12, 1954. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School and later earned his Dentistry and Culinary degree. James was the oldest of the seven siblings: Margaret Johnson, Edward Trice, Carolyn Trice, Dwayne Lawrence Trice, Walter Randolph Trice, and Lilly Mae Trice.

Our Dad departed this life on Sunday December 5, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones. We know that he is with the Lord and the love of his life, our mother, Hilda. Dad married our mom on June 17, 1986. Together they raised six children: Tariq Trice, Rahsaan Trice, Florence Trice, Tangee Trice, James Trice lll and Rafiq Trice, and they fostered many, many more kids. They loved children and were always there for those in need. Dad and Mom were blessed with 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.

Our Dad was a father like no other, he was gentle and caring. He was our provider and protector. He was the last person to go to bed and the first to wake up. Dad made sure the house was safe, and all his kids were where they were supposed to be. Growing up, we didn't even need an alarm clock; Dad was the alarm clock, he woke us up faithfully every morning for school. Our dad worked hard and made sure we wanted for nothing - vacations every summer and allowances every week, even when we didn't deserve it.

Dad was not a man of many words, but when he spoke, he meant every single word. Dad never lifted his arms to beat us, his arms were meant for love and love only. Our Dad loved his old school music and old TV classics like: In the Heat of The Night, Matlock, Sanford and Son, Touched by an Angel, and of course his TV game shows. Dad loved doing crossword puzzles and later got hooked on his games on his phone (especially Candy Crush).

Our Dad loved the Lord and instilled the love of Christ in all of us. He was a faithful member of The Ministries of Truth Tabernacle Church where he served as an active member on the Hospitality's Board. Seeing all of you here today is a true testament of who dad was. We would like to say thank you for all of the calls, messages and condolences. Thank you all for joining us here today, both family and friends alike, he would be so proud of the respect you've shown him and honored by your presence.

Dad is no longer with us in the physical, but he'll forever be with us in our hearts and the memories we shared until we meet again. We love you Dad.
