Jannie Mae Butler was born on August 6, 1948 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, a daughter of Freddie Benjamin and Annie Brown Benjamin. She departed this life on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Summerville, SC.

Jannie attended the public schools of Berkeley County, graduating from Berkeley Training High School on June 2, 1966.

Jannie was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. James Butler. This union was blessed with a daughter, Yvonne.

Jannie was a member of Faith House of Prayer where she served faithfully. She was the Mother of the church. She loved reading inspirational and spiritual books which helped her to encourage others. She also enjoyed listening to Gospel music.

Jannie was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Prezzy and Lottie Benjamin; her parents, Freddie and Annie Benjamin; her husband, James Butler; and siblings, Rebecca Reynolds, Harold Benjamin and Freddie Benjamin, Jr.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: a daughter, Yvonne (Rodney) Harley; sister, Loraine Benjamin Haywood; brother, Leroy (Irma) Benjamin; grandchildren, Alexandria Lind, Alexander (Tina) Butler and Rodreguis (Kessa) Butler; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Gabriel, Jahzae and Jenesis Lind, Jericho and Elijah Butler; nieces, Brenda (Ricky), Ruthie, Lorie, Yolanda and Aneathia (Bubba); nephew, Anthony Benjamin; grandnephew, Lamar Benjamin; and a host of extended family and friends.
